4 Days 3 Nights In Paris Itinerary – Part 1

Switzerland to Paris

We took train from Interlaken west to basel and wait for the next train from basel to paris, about 1.5 hrs ride.

We booked our train ticket with RailEurope, from Basel to Paris Gare Lyon which cost us 65 euro per pax the ride duration is almost 3.5 hrs. By the time we arrive paris, it is almost evening.

Upon arrival,  we bought train tickets in a bulk of tens from the machine and it only accepts either coins or credit card – visa only as our MasterCard did not work. Each trip required 1 ticket for zone 1-3. We took the green line from Paris Gare Lyon to Gare Du Nord via RER D about 7 mins train ride. You required to push on the button on the right side of the door to open it.

About Paris

Paris is well known as city of love. The signature landmark is the Eiffel tower at 324 metre tall, you can get up to the second floor or the top via elevator or stairs.

In Paris, their service are slow, dine in will at least take you 1.5 hours. Their dessert are sweeter compare to those in Asia. Foie gras is one of the popular delicacy in French cuisine, foie gras in canned can be in supermart.

Paris is known as shopping for certain brand that are cheaper in Paris such as LV, Longchamp and Cartier. They have outlet shopping called La Vallee Village.

In the train, the telecom signal is pretty poor

Day 7 25 Nov 2016

It was almost 7pm when we arrive at Galeries Lafayette, it is a shopping department in Paris filled with of china tourist. You can obtained 10% off discount card for galeries lafayette via the following options:

  1. I took it from the brochure sections, where a galeries lafayette card is available in the leaflet.

By showing the Paris pass at the customer reception centre, located at ground floor to redeem the 10% card or like me obtained the card from hotel lobby and simply spend 40 euros, you can go back to the customer reception centre to redeem a free welcoming gift.

Samsonite luggage are on 40% for the blacks while others having 20% off on 1st piece and 30% off for 2nd piece.
The Firelite, size 30 is selling 449 euro – 40% = 269.4 euros and size 28 at 429 euro – 40% = 257.4 euros.


In paris, spending of 175 euros on the same day in the same store to qualify for the 12% tax refund, and you are required to do the tax refund in the store and custom upon departing EU. Tax refund is 12% if you opt for Credit Card refund. See the image below:


* You are warned for the china crowd at ground level tax refund, recommend to go higher level to Q for the tax refund. It took us about 30 mins in Q.

      Yes, Paris is extremely well known for pickpockets. Fortunately, I didn’t encounter any during my trip.
      Just to make sure you guys walk together. I encounter a lady holding onto a clipboard and requesting my dad to do some survey at the arc de triomphe. I quickly told the lady that sorry we are not interested and we walk away. Just to be safe thn to be sorry.
      Eiffel Tower also has a lot reminder of pickpockets notice, becoz if u are taking the elevator it can be cramp.hug to your bag when in the lift. I will be standing at the corner and had our bags all against the lift.
